Grapevine: Schumacher Proves Popular in Online Auction

Ferrari's World Champion Michael Schumacher is proving to be the most popular driver in an online auction aimed at raising funds for charity.

Ferrari's World Champion Michael Schumacher is proving to be the most popular driver in an online auction aimed at raising funds for charity.

The majority of the current F1 drivers each signed a playing card at the beginning of the season, for an online auction that started last week and which will finish tomorrow. The auction, that also receives help from Sutton Motorsport Images, aims to raise funds for the Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Five-time champion Schumacher's card has been the most popular so far, obtaining a highest bid of £225 (pounds), more than double the highest for Juan Pablo Montoya's card, which has a current bidding price of £107. McLaren's David Coulthard is the third most popular driver, his card just £10 cheaper than Montoya's.

Brazilian Antonio Pizzonia, German Nick Heidfeld and Australia's Mark Webber are currently at the bottom of the list, their cards valued £36, £34, and £32 respectively.

The auction is taking place on eBay and will come to an end on Friday 25th at 7PM GMT.
