Grapevine: Firman to Drive Jordan F1 Car in Macau

The Jordan Formula One team will make history this weekend when an F1 car will run for the first time in China ahead of next year's maiden Grand Prix.

Briton Ralph Firman will drive the Jordan EJ13 in a demonstration run at the legendary Guia street circuit on three consecutive days beginning next Friday as part of the festivities celebrating the 50th Macau Formula Three Grand Prix.

"I can't wait to go back to Macau as it's one of the most challenging circuits in the world," said Firman, who won the Macau race back in 1996. "I have good memories of winning in 1996 and it will be really exciting to drive the F1 car there."

Team boss Eddie Jordan will be joining Firman and other members of the Jordan team in Macau.

"I have great memories of Macau, particularly as part of Theodore Racing when we ran Ayrton Senna, and I'm very proud to take part in this unique event and further strengthen Jordan's links with China," said Jordan.

The Minardi team had already tried to run a Formula One two-seater in China last year, but the event was cancelled due to the weather.
