Grapevine: Ferrari confirm upcoming Rossi test
Ferrari have confirmed that MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi will test for them before the end of the year
The Italian said at the MotoGP season finale in Valencia last weekend that he was in talks with the Italian F1 team about another run in their car, and it has now been agreed that he will get a run in their car.
Although a firm date has not yet been set, a Ferrari spokesman confirmed to autosport.com in Brazil that Rossi will test before the end of this year at an Italian track - most probably at the team's Fiorano or Mugello test tracks.
Ferrari said the test is not aimed at evaluating Rossi's form, with the Italian having conceded that he simply wanted to enjoy himself in the F1 car again. He last tested for Ferrari in 2006, when he was pondering a move to grand prix racing.
"Yes, it's just for fun," Rossi said in Valencia. "I'm happy if they let me try it again, because I miss it a bit.
"However there's no other ambition, because I signed a contract for two more years for Yamaha. It will just be for passion and I think Valentino Rossi with Ferrari is fun for Italy."
