Glock not ruling out Toyota wins

Timo Glock has not ruled out Toyota being able to challenge for its first Formula 1 victory this season despite admitting that the team has lost some ground to Brawn and Red Bull since the start of the season

Glock led the early stages of the Bahrain Grand Prix in April ahead of team-mate Jarno Trulli, although the pair slipped back to finish seventh and third respectively.

Since then, the team has not shown race-leading pace, but the German is hopeful that Toyota's development programme could help it get back into a frontrunning position in the second half of the year.

"I was always careful about talking about the first win," said Glock when asked by AUTOSPORT whether he believed that a victory was possible in the rest of the season.

"I always said we had to concentrate on developing the car race by race and that's still my opinion. Sure, at the moment we maybe have slightly lost pace to the top two teams, but there is a chance every race to be up there."

Glock added that he believes the team has made a major step forward since 2008 and that the TF109 is a more predictable car than its predecessor.

"We have made a good step from 2008 to 2009," said Glock. "Okay, we have different tyres and a different aerodynamic configuration, but I would say that the car is better in every area.

"It has better stability. You can drive the car more aggressively and not have to pick a window where it is working. Last year, when you lost the car, you lost it quite unpredictably. We improved that already last year and we have made more improvements this year."
