Gallery: Season review

Formula 1 in 2004 will be mostly remembered as another year of Michael Schumacher's dominance. But while the achievements of the now seven-times world champion should not be completely overlooked, it would be wrong to say there were not plenty of others stars and stories out there

Who can forget the amazing turnaround of McLaren, and just how bad things were for David Coulthard and Kimi Raikkonen at the start of the year? Then there was Jarno Trulli's amazing start to the campaign, his sensational victory at Monaco, and the sad way his Renault career ended with a parting of ways after Monza.

Off track there was a whole host of stories too. Jenson Button's on-off switch to Williams kept the news hounds busy, while the politics caused by FIA president's Max Mosley desire to cut speed in the wake of several big accidents often left the sport's team bosses at loggerheads.

It would be pretty safe to say that once again Formula 1 did not disappoint.
