Fruitless Weekend for Sauber Drivers

The Sauber team endured a disappointing weekend which finished with both Nick Heidfeld and Kimi Raikkonen out of the Belgian Grand Prix after only five laps.

Heidfeld, who had qualified in fourteenth place after a difficult session on Saturday, retired right after the re-start of the race when he collided with Jaguar's Pedro de la Rosa. The German claimed the Spaniard was to blame for the incident.

"I didn't make a particularly good start the second time, but I made back some places until La Source, when Jos Verstappen touched my car," said Heidfeld. "Then I think it was Pedro de la Rosa who came across and hit me, breaking the front wing and the front suspension."

Teammate Raikkonen could only complete four laps of the race after a transmission problem hit his car again. The Finn, who had already suffered the problem on Saturday, was unhappy after the race.

"I made a good start and moved up from eighth to sixth by the fourth lap, but just after the accident scene between Luciano Burti and Eddie Irvine, my car suffered the same transmission problem that I had in practice so I had to stop," he said.

"I'm really disappointed because the car felt fantastic in the warm-up this morning."
