French GP Plans Better Show for Fans

The Federation Francaise du Sport Automobile, organisers of the French Grand Prix, are gearing up to take the French Grand Prix to a new level, they said today.

The Federation Francaise du Sport Automobile, organisers of the French Grand Prix, are gearing up to take the French Grand Prix to a new level, they said today.

Jacques Regis, the president of the FFSA, said this year's Grand Prix will feature cheaper ticket prices as well as more events, aimed at entertaining the fans.

"We are going to give the spectators a better show," said Regis. "With our new ticket pricing we hope to attract more fans and aim for a much larger crowd on race day. We will have Formula One, Formula 3000, Porsche Supercup, Formula Three Euroseries, and Historic Grand Prix cars from the 1950s, and in between the races there will be various events, promotions and demonstrations."

The race will also feature a party to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Formula One Constructors Association - FOCA. The FFSA said they expected the top names in Formula One during that period to attend the event.

"We are going to do everything possible to make the French Grand Prix a success," added Regis. "Obviously it will help if Renault is doing well but we want people to go away with a new impression of the Grand Prix."

The French race was in jeopardy because of financial problems but the FFSA found the necessary funds for the race to go ahead. The Grand Prix at Magny-Cours will take place on July 4.
