Italian Giancarlo Fisichella was delighted after setting a surprising fourth quickest time in Friday's practice session for the Belgian Grand at Spa, but the Benetton driver admitted his aim for tomorrow's qualifying was to be in the top ten.
Fisichella, who earlier this month announced he will drive for the Jordan team in 2002, put a disappointing season behind him today and placed himself only behind the Ferrari drivers and compatriot Jarno Trulli in the Jordan.
The Benetton star was happy with his performance, but admitted he wasn't expecting to keep his position in qualifying on Saturday.
"It was an excellent day because we set fourth fastest time while running a heavy fuel load," Fisichella said. "We worked hard this morning, the car was very well balanced and we found a good set-up for the dry.
"It was also pretty good in the wet however, I didn't have any particular problems and was very happy with the way things went. I'm confident we can be strong tomorrow and definitely think we can qualify in the top 10."
Fisichella's teammate Jenson Button completed a promising day for the Renault-owned team by setting the tenth fastest time.
