Fisichella Targeting Top Ten in Qualifying

Giancarlo Fisichella is targeting a top ten spot in Saturday's qualifying for the European Grand Prix despite a slow start to his weekend.

Giancarlo Fisichella is targeting a top ten spot in Saturday's qualifying for the European Grand Prix despite a slow start to his weekend.

The Italian driver is looking for his fourth consecutive point-scoring finish after three fifth places in Austria, Monaco and Canada. The Jordan driver, running with a high fuel load today, could only set the 17th fastest time, but remained confident for Saturday.

"Not a bad day, considering I was running with lots of fuel and didn't do a single lap on low fuel," said Fisichella at the end of the day. "We had no problems at all with the car, which is very important.

"There is still work to do in finding the best set-up, as at the moment we have a lot of understeer in slow corners and graining with new tyres. It will be difficult to be in the top ten but that is our target."

Fisichella also revealed he did not like the changes to the circuit layout: "I don't like the changes to the circuit as it makes everything too slow."

Jordan teammate Takuma Sato was 12th quickest despite being forced to park his Honda-powered car 20 minutes from the end of the first session due to an electrical failure.
