Italian Giancarlo Fisichella has been handed his maiden Grand Prix victory after a meeting between the organisers of the Brazilian Grand Prix and the sport's governing body, the FIA, in Paris.
Fisichella, who has completed 110 Grands Prix, was deemed the winner of last Sunday's Interlagos race after the timekeepers at the event admitted they had made an error.
The Italian, who drives for Jordan, was moved ahead of original winner Finn Kimi Raikkonen, of McLaren, who was demoted to second after it was confirmed that one more lap than originally thought had been completed.
No McLaren representative was present at the meeting, but Jordan team chief Eddie Jordan joined FIA race director Charlie Whiting, the FIA observer and the Brazilian race stewards to discuss the matter.
Third place still goes to Spaniard Fernando Alonso, whose crash in his Renault caused the race to be stopped early, while Scot David Coulthard remains in his original fourth position.
German Heinz-Harald Frentzen, of Sauber, retains fifth place and BAR Honda's Canadian driver Jacques Villeneuve stays in sixth but Australian Mark Webber now misses out on his two points for seventh place.
Webber crashed on the start-finish straight and was classified seventh because the results were taken from before his crash but he is now classified ninth, out of the points, in the new results.
German Ralf Schumacher is the man to benefit after he moved up to take Webber's seventh place for Williams-BMW, while Jarno Trulli still gets a point for finishing eighth.
