Fisichella Expecting Tough Qualifying

Italian Giancarlo Fisichella is expecting a difficult qualifying session after posting the 11th quickest time in today's practice for his home race in Italy.

Italian Giancarlo Fisichella is expecting a difficult qualifying session after posting the 11th quickest time in today's practice for his home race in Italy.

The Jordan driver, who was more than two seconds off Michael Schumacher's pace, was the quickest of the non-Ferrari Bridgestone runners, but the Italian claimed the Japanese rubber needed three laps before starting to work at its best.

"We worked on a number of things today including different fuel loads for the race," said Fisichella. "At the moment we have some difficulty with tyres because they need three laps to get them working, so qualifying will be very tough."

Rookie Takuma Sato set the 14th fastest time with the second Jordan, the Japanese driver being hit by electrical problems late in the morning session.

"We started today in damp conditions so it was fairly difficult to judge our set-up direction," he said. "At the end of the session I had a small electrical problem, so I could not do any tyre comparisons which I am disappointed about."
