Firman to join Jordan test
Ralph Firman's hopes of retaining his drive with the Jordan team have been given a boost with the news that he will join the team's three-day test at Barcelona this week
Ousted Sauber driver Nick Heidfeld and Czech Formula 3000 driver Jaroslav Janis began the team's test this morning (Wednesday). Heidfeld completed 22 laps this morning, with Janis clocking up 50 tours of the circuit. Firman is now scheduled to join the test on Friday.
It will be the second time that Firman has run for Jordan since the end of the season, following his demonstration runs at the recent Macau Grand Prix.
"My only previous experience of the Jerez track came in the mid-1990s when I briefly tested the McLaren as a result of winning the McLaren AUTOSPORT Driver of the Year Award," said Firman. "The battle for race drives in F1 has never been tougher, but I am determined to do everything I can to help the team and earn my place in the line-up next season."
We'll have full testing reports from Barcelona and Jerez later today on autosport.com.
