FIA Expect Hakkinen Decision next Tuesday

A decision following an investigation into the Mika Hakkinen's McLaren car is expected next Tuesday, Formula One's governing body said on Thursday.

A decision following an investigation into the Mika Hakkinen's McLaren car is expected next Tuesday, Formula One's governing body said on Thursday.

The Finn's victory in Sunday's Austrian Grand Prix was left in doubt after the FIA detected a missing seal on an electronic box on his car and launched an investigation.

The FIA said on Thursday that the box had been examined by FIA experts, in the presence of McLaren representatives, and a report had been sent to the Austrian Grand Prix stewards.

"They will reconvene to examine the report and hear the representatives (of McLaren) as well as the FIA experts on 25 July at 2 p.m. (1300 GMT) in London," the FIA said in a statement.

"It is hoped that the stewards' decision will be published later that day."

McLaren have said that they are confident Hakkinen's victory at the A1-Ring will stand.

A spokesman said earlier in the week that the data from the box had already been downloaded by the FIA and had found that codes had not been altered.
