The Ferrari team continued to dominate on the second day of testing at the Mugello circuit in Italy, where five drivers were in action today.
Luca Badoer and Felipe Massa were again the men in charge of testing duties for the World Champions, both driving the F2003-GA car. Italian Badoer was the fastest of the two again, outpacing the Brazilian by more than half a second as both concentrated on tyre testing ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix.
The BAR team were again in action at Mugello, working with both their test drivers Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson. Japanese Sato returned to work following a heavy crash on Tuesday, and he again outpaced Briton Davidson, who was the busiest driver on track today with 112 laps.
Minardi joined the test with Dutchman Jos Verstappen driving the Arrows-based PS04 chassis he debuted in testing before the United States Grand Prix. Verstappen covered 55 laps and set a quickest time of 1:24.707.
"This is a new car for us and, despite having a couple of technical problems, which is quite normal in this sort of situation, we found a good technical direction and made steady progress today," said Verstappen.
"In total, we did 59 laps on the two chassis, and the best lap, of 1 min 24.7 secs, was an improvement of 0.9 secs compared with the first time we tested here at Mugello. We are hoping to run the car again soon in order to continue the work and to have a chance to begin to judge its potential."
Testing will continue tomorrow.
