Ferrari Bosses Praise Schumacher's 'Perfect' Drive

Ferrari bosses hailed World Champion Michael Schumacher for a 'perfect performance' after he overcame serious brake problems to win the Canadian Grand Prix today.

Ferrari bosses hailed World Champion Michael Schumacher for a 'perfect performance' after he overcame serious brake problems to win the Canadian Grand Prix today.

"This was one of the best races I have ever seen," said technical director Ross Brawn after the German's sixth Canadian victory put him and Ferrari top of the Championship at the halfway stage.

"Michael did a very good job of controlling the race despite brake wear problems right from the early stages. We breathed a sigh of relief when we got to the chequered flag. The strategy worked well but the deciding factor was the way Michael drove," said Brawn.

Team sporting director Jean Todt said Schumacher 'delivered a perfect performance'.

"Today's was the 60th win since I joined Ferrari and probably one of our most hard won victories," continued the Frenchman.

Schumacher, who has now won four times this season and taken his career points tally to 999, said the race had been tough with his brother Ralf in his mirrors for most of the later stages.

"We had to be very careful on our brake side so I wasn't able to push all the way through and just drove the pace I needed to," he said.

The pitstops were decisive, with the World Champion getting ahead of brother Ralf's Williams, but Schumacher's brake problem produced a finish with the first four cars divided by less than five seconds.
