De la Rosa to Test for McLaren Again

Spanish driver Pedro de la Rosa will test for the McLaren team for the second time next week at the Barcelona circuit, the Woking-based team confirmed today.

Spanish driver Pedro de la Rosa will test for the McLaren team for the second time next week at the Barcelona circuit, the Woking-based team confirmed today.

However, contrary to reports in the Spanish press, the former Jaguar driver has not signed a contract with McLaren to work alongside test and reserve driver Alexander Wurz.

"Pedro is participating in an ad hoc test in Barcelona next week, however we have no contract with him," a McLaren spokesperson told Atlas F1 today.

De la Rosa returned to Formula One action last week at the Jerez circuit, carrying out a two-day test for McLaren alongside Austrian Wurz. McLaren decided to use de la Rosa for the test as their racing drivers Kimi Raikkonen and David Coulthard do not return to Europe between flyaway races.

The Spaniard had not driven a Grand Prix car since the end of the 2002 season, when he was dumped by the Jaguar team despite having a year of his contract left to run.
