David Ward publishes FIA presidential agenda

Ward is set to take on current FIA president Jean Todt in the battle to be head of motor racing's governing body.

Ward's vision, which has been set out in a document titled 'Agenda for Change' points towards an overhaul of governance at the FIA.

In the list of changes that he wants to see, he suggests the FIA president should have the possibility to serve in a non-executive role - and that a CEO is appointed to work alongside a newly created management board to better serve the body in the long term.

He also wants commissioners for the various world championships, as well as more transparency on finances.

Ward has also taken a brief swipe at the recent actions of Todt in trying to elicit support from member clubs before official election campaigning begins.

"The threshold for nominations for Presidential candidates has been set high which favours the incumbent and deters other candidates," wrote Ward.

"Recently there has also been unfortunate use of 'support letters' at various FIA regional meetings which are designed to elicit public commitments of support before the election process even opens, thereby deterring alternative candidates from coming forward. These are of questionable legitimacy."
