Coulthard: Williams in a Different League

McLaren-Mercedes driver David Coulthard has revealed his happiness for former team Williams-BMW after conceding that they were in a "different league" at the French Grand Prix.

McLaren-Mercedes driver David Coulthard has revealed his happiness for former team Williams-BMW after conceding that they were in a "different league" at the French Grand Prix.

Williams registered their second consecutive one-two result in the Magny-Cours race after dominating at the Nurburgring two weeks ago, with McLaren duo Kimi Raikkonen and Coulthard finishing fourth and fifth respectively in the French race.

Scot Coulthard believes the criticism Williams experienced earlier in the season has been proven to be unfounded, and admits his McLaren team now need to learn from Williams' example.

"Williams were in a different league this weekend and it is amazing how quickly things change," said Coulthard, who made his Formula One debut with Williams in 1994. "We were writing everyone off when they were retiring. I don't believe in the criticism of Williams and I feel very happy for Patrick (Head) and the guys that they are getting results now.

"Obviously I would prefer for us to be getting them, but everyone wants to conclude a Championship, or a person's career, within two or three race results - we should let the Championship run its course."
