Coulthard: Schumacher Can be Beaten

Scot David Coulthard believes Ferrari's World Champion Michael Schumacher can be beaten in the remaining seven races of the season.

Scot David Coulthard believes Ferrari's World Champion Michael Schumacher can be beaten in the remaining seven races of the season.

Six-time champion Schumacher has won 10 out of 11 races so far and will start Sunday's German Grand Prix from pole position. The German driver could equal his record for most wins in a season, and at the same time give Ferrari the constructors' title if the Italian squad score 13 points more than Renault.

McLaren driver Coulthard believes Schumacher's advantage is narrowing and the Scot is confident the World Champion will be beaten.

"I think the reason why Michael was able to win with a range of strategies earlier this year is that he's at such a pace advantage at those races, that it doesn't really matter whether he did two, three or four stops," said Coulthard in Germany today.

"I think that this advantage is possibly getting a little bit smaller - if you see how close it was to Kimi at Silverstone, and obviously here we can presume that maybe he was trying to run a little bit lighter for pole position.

"So I think that from this point on, until the end of the season, if the developments we have coming along see improvements in the car, then it is possible to beat him."
