Coulthard: Remaining Races Not Looking Good

McLaren's David Coulthard has admitted his concerns over the season's remaining races as he prepares to take on a fight for second place in the World Championship behind Michael Schumacher.

Coulthard, who finally lost any mathematical chance of the title in Hungary last weekend, now faces a Ferrari onslaught as the Italian team aim to put Rubens Barrichello into second place.

Brazilian Barrichello is just five points behind Scot Coulthard, and with Williams' Ralf Schumacher also only seven points adrift, the McLaren driver is not entirely confident of retaining the runners-up spot.

"I want to win these races," said Coulthard before analysing his chances. "I want to get he most out of each race and I want to go to the next Grand Prix and just get the most out of myself and the car. I think Spa will be interesting to see how we all compare there. Monza we'll probably get hammered by Williams because they're so strong on those fast circuits.

"America, another fast circuit, not looking too good, Suzuka, very technical, so it's not looking so good all of a sudden. But even though he (Schumacher) has won the Championship I still have the same sort of attitude."

Coulthard has now gone seven races without a victory, during which time his best result has been two third places at the Hungarian and German Grands Prix. In those seven races, Coulthard has claimed only 13 points, while Barrichello has scored 28 and Ralf Schumacher has wracked up 32 points
