Coulthard Fastest at Valencia Testing - Day Two

McLaren driver David Coulthard was fastest at the second day of testing yesterday at the Valencia circuit in Spain.

McLaren driver David Coulthard was fastest at the second day of testing yesterday at the Valencia circuit in Spain.

Coulthard was slightly quicker than McLaren teammate Mika Hakkinen in hot conditions. Third fastest was Pedro de la Rosa in the Arrows, showing impressive speed once again.

Fifth and sixth fastest were Benetton teammates Alexander Wurz and Giancarlo Fisichella, Wurz edging out Fisichella for the second day in succession. The two Benetton drivers evaluated a new aerodynamic package as well as practicing starts, with Fisichella testing in the morning and Wurz taking over in the afternoon.

Eighth and ninth fastest were the two Williams drivers, Jenson Button and Ralf Schumacher. The team continued its work from the previous day, working on engine mapping and high downforce set-up for Hungary. "The twisty nature of the Valencia circuit combined with the heat makes this test quite challenging. We continued today with high downforce work in the hope of optimising the package before we arrive in Budapest next week. I am pleased with the way the past two days have gone and I hope we can apply this work to the twisty Hungaroring next weekend where, I understand, there are very few overtaking possibilities," commented Button.
