Button wants Monaco success

Jenson Button and BAR aim to put the disappointments of the Spanish Grand Prix behind them and return to what they now regard as their rightful position on the podium. Button feels that his 2003 crash has put a Monaco victory at the top of his wish list

"I'd love to win any Grand Prix," said Button, "but Monaco more than Silverstone really because of what happened there last year."

A huge qualifying crash ruled Button out of the 2003 Grand Prix, but the 24-year-old Briton still likes Monaco. "It's a circuit I enjoy and I think that we are going to be very strong there," he said.

"Ferrari obviously remain the dominant force but it would be nice to get a good result and get back on the podium, especially after the accident. All in all, I'm really looking forward to it."

Button's boss, BAR team principal David Richards emphasised how much his team has improved on this season. "This time last year, we might well have considered a two-car points finish in Barcelona to be a good result," he said so it's a measure of how far we've come that we all left Spain feeling slightly disappointed. Nonetheless, a solid result for both drivers enabled us to maintain 3rd in the Constructors' standings and Jenson remains third in the Drivers' Championship. There is no doubt that we now feel we belong on the podium and Monaco will be no exception."

Technical director Geoff Willis promises further improvements on the car too. "we have analysed the issues and are taking steps to improve for Monaco," he said. We have been using part of our testing in Paul Ricard to finalise with Michelin the very soft compounds required for Monaco. We have also evaluated some further aerodynamic tweaks."
