Button: no plans to leave Honda

Jenson Button says he has no plans to leave the Honda Racing team despite the Japanese squad's dismal start to the 2007 season

The British driver scored a long overdue maiden victory in Hungary last year, and went on to be the top scorer in the final part of the year.

This year, however, Button is yet to score a point after Honda's car proved uncompetitive, and he has a 12th place as his best result after the first four races.

Honda's poor form has prompted rumours about Button looking to leave the team at the end of the season, but the Briton says he has no plans to switch.

"I have seen loads of speculation about me - it's great," Button was quoted as saying by the Press Association. "So many people get funny with you when you decide you would like to change teams, and they say you should stick with your own team.

"Then a year later the same people come out say 'oh, you've got to move, go somewhere else'. I'm completely confused by it all, although it makes me smile.

"But I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying here."

Button also insisted Honda need to keep on working flat out in order to rectify their situation, and he is adamant things are already starting to change.

"The back end of last year was really good," he added. "But if you are building a new car and you veer off in the wrong direction, or you don't have the right people in the right place, things are not going to work.

"That's probably been the case with this car. We've rectified a lot of already, but we need to keep pushing. We need to make sure the people here are doing the right jobs and they are in the right positions in the team.

"We have to make sure everything is moving in the right direction now, and I think it is."
