Button Looking to Score Points

Briton Jenson Button believes he has the car to score a strong points finish in the Sunday's German Grand Prix at Hockenheim despite starting from 13th on the grid.

Briton Jenson Button believes he has the car to score a strong points finish in the Sunday's German Grand Prix at Hockenheim despite starting from 13th on the grid.

BAR-Honda driver Button, currently third in the drivers' standings, qualified in third place but loses 10 places as a result of his engine change on Friday but he has set his sights on a points-scoring performance.

"The car has worked very well today," said Button, after qualifying behind Schumacher and Williams driver Juan Pablo Montoya. "It's the best it's felt for a long time over a long run.

"We have been struggling a little bit with that over the last few races, with consistency. But it's there now, just a pity I'm not at the front to be able to use it. It is disappointing that we are going back to 13th on the grid, but these things happen.

"It's going to be a very exciting race for me from 13th. I have been very lucky in the races not to have any failures so, we make mistakes and the team makes mistakes sometimes."

Button was hoping to return to the podium at Hockenheim after finishing a disappointing fourth in his home British Grand Prix two weeks ago, and he is now looking forward to the task of overtaking a number of his rivals in the race.

"We are around cars that we can hopefully get past in the race and hopefully we are capable of getting some points," Button said. "It is important, I think, to consistently be scoring the points, even though it might not be many, it's important to get some points."
