Bridgestone Hoping to Turn the Tables on Sunday

Bridgestone technical manager Hisao Suganuma is hoping the Ferrari team will be able to turn the tables on Sunday and score another win despite missing out on pole position once more.

Bridgestone technical manager Hisao Suganuma is hoping the Ferrari team will be able to turn the tables on Sunday and score another win despite missing out on pole position once more.

The Bridgestone-shod Ferraris of Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello were outqualified by a Michelin runner for the fifth consecutive time when Juan Pablo Montoya scored his fifth pole position in row with the Williams.

Schumacher and Barrichello had to be content with second and third places respectively, but having won four of the last five races, Suganuma is confident their tyres will allow them to edge ahead at Sunday's French Grand Prix.

"Unfortunately a pattern seems to be emerging whereby our cars just miss out on pole, and of course that is a shame," said Suganuma. "However, the pattern in the last few races has been for one of our cars to win, so I hope that trend continues tomorrow.

"With regard to our long distance performance, based on the data from practice yesterday and this morning I am confident that we will be competitive tomorrow. Both our new specifications will be used in the race and we have suffered no significant problems with either of them so far this weekend."
