Brawn: Ferrari Want to Race in England, France

Ferrari's technical director Ross Brawn says Ferrari want to race at the British and French Grands Prix.

Ferrari's technical director Ross Brawn says Ferrari want to race at the British and French Grands Prix.

But he added that the Italian squad were not happy with having to make financial concessions for both races to be included on the calendar.

The 2005 calendar has been stretched to 19 events, more than ever before, with France and Britain securing their places at the last moment. As they were considered the 18th and 19th races on the calendar, the teams are allowed to demand more money to compete.

The expansion is still subject to the agreement of all the teams and rival team boss Frank Williams said last week there was a problem over cash compensation, although Ferrari dismissed speculation that they could boycott the races.

Brawn said the designation of Britain and France as the extra races rather than newcomers China, Bahrain or Turkey would hit teams in the pocket.

"We want to race at Silverstone and we want to race at Magny-Cours," he said. "I am an Englishman and (team boss) Jean Todt is a Frenchman.

"We believe that the 18th and 19th races are either Bahrain and Turkey or China and Turkey," he added. "It is completely wrong that Magny-Cours and Silverstone were manipulated into being the 18th and 19th races.

"The income from those races in China, Bahrain and Turkey is very, very substantial. That is the money that should be shared among the teams, not the contribution that Magny-Cours and Silverstone are making.

"But I think we will be there."
