Ferrari's technical director Ross Brawn has admitted the Italian team are concerned about the reaction of their supporters following the Austrian Grand Prix.
The World Champions, the most emblematic Formula One team with millions of fans throughout the globe, were booed at the end of the Austrian race after they decided to impose team orders to make Michael Schumacher the winner of a race dominated from the start by teammate Rubens Barrichello.
Speaking today at the Monaco Grand Prix, Brawn revealed that the reaction of their supporters have made Ferrari think about their decision, but defended it by saying that they are "paranoid" that something will go wrong this year.
"We were surprised by the reaction of our fans and that concerned us," Brawn told Sky Digital. "They are a part of Ferrari and their reaction concerns us. We talked about it and it's certainly something we will take into consideration in the future.
"In any event, I hope they get over it. People need to understand why we did this in Austria. Yes, we are leading and yes we have a good car, but we're always paranoid that something will go wrong. Ferrari has been in the past through very tough times so maybe we were simply being too over-cautious."
German Schumacher leads the Championship by a massive 27 points after winning five out of six races so far this year, four of them in a row. The four-time World Champion is looking to score his sixth Monaco win this weekend.
