Barrichello says Valencia result a boost

Rubens Barrichello says the morale within his Williams team has been boosted by its best result of the season in the previous race in Valencia

The Brazilian driver put on his strongest showing of the year so far to finish in fourth position at the European Grand Prix.

His previous best result had been an eighth place at the Australian Grand Prix, the second race of the season.

Barrichello believes the result was a good boost for Williams, but he admits the team is still hoping for more.

"It was good for the morale of the team, but we just need to finish higher," said Barrichello ahead of the British Grand Prix on Thursday.

"The car itself changed a bit in Montreal so it's a bit of a situation where we thought the car was already better but it didn't go very well in Montreal. Valencia was better. Here it can be even better with all the new stuff that we are bringing."

The team will introduce more updates for its car for the Silverstone race, but Barrichello concedes it is hard to predict how much faster they will make the car.

But he is convinced that the package will improve the performance.

"It's a hard call. The thing that we can say is that it's definitely going to be better," he said. "If it's four tenths or half a second is a difficult thing to know.

"The car has been okay on high speed tracks but not fantastic. We might improve that. If it does we could expect as much as half a second."

He said Williams should aim to finish in the top six in all the remaining races of the year.

"I think that's the biggest aim. To qualify in the top ten all the time and to finish in the top six all the time. That's the aim for the end of the year."
