Barrichello hopes Honda fast by France

Brazilian Rubens Barrichello hopes the Honda Racing team will be competitive in time for July's French Grand Prix

Following a four-week break since the Bahrain Grand Prix, Barrichello believes Honda have made some progress in solving the issues that have marred their start of the season.

The Honda driver reckons the RA107 that will race at Barcelona this weekend is the best yet, but the Brazilian is under no illusions about their prospects for the next few races.

"I think the car is better than ever," Barrichello told a news conference ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix. "Obviously the test and the effort the team is putting in is better, but everyone else improved too. We have to take the car to the track and see what it does.

"Although we know what the problem is, it has been difficult to address even though the team is working 24 hours flat out. I think it will be some time before we can sort it out. Hopefully by France we'll have a competitive car."

Barrichello said the team are not getting desperate about their situation, and instead are working flat out to return to the sharp end of the field.

"It is not desperation, it is the fact that we have to work together," he added. "We have to be very specific about the problems and translate them to the engineers and those people working on the car.

"We all want to make the car better, the tunnel is working well so we can see the things that are happening on the track are happening in the tunnel, so that is better."

Honda are yet to score a point this season, and have an 11th place as their best finish so far.
