Bahrain Organisers Hope to Learn from Malaysia

The organisers of the Bahrain Grand Prix have travelled to Kuala Lumpur for this weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix in a bid to prepare themselves for the challenge of running their own race next year.

The organisers of the Bahrain Grand Prix have travelled to Kuala Lumpur for this weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix in a bid to prepare themselves for the challenge of running their own race next year.

The Bahrain government confirmed their financial support for the project on Tuesday and the organisers claim they are already ahead of their development schedule which is due to be completed in just under a year's time.

But they admitted they will need to improve their knowledge of how to run a Grand Prix before the circus arrives in Bahrain and hope to be given a helping hand by the Malaysian organisers.

The high level delegates from Bahrain arrived in Malaysia today to attend a series of preparatory meetings led by president of the general organisation for youth & sports Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.

"Malaysia is a fellow Islamic country with five years' experience in hosting the Grand Prix event itself and thousands of international and local racing fans," he said. "An important part of our visit to the Sepang circuit is to share their experiences in successfully combining a unique heritage and national traditions with the excitement of the world's most popular racing event."

Marshals from the country, who have already been chosen to work at the race next year, have already attended a technical programme with Australian marshals in Melbourne to prepare them for the task ahead.
