Ferrari's test driver Luca Badoer posted the quickest time on the third day of testing at the Mugello circuit, finishing ahead of both the McLaren drivers.
Badoer, at the wheel of the F2002 chassis, completed a total of 75 laps, concentrating once more on tyre testing for Bridgestone. The Italian driver was nearly seven tenths of a second quicker than Kimi Raikkonen in the first of the McLarens, the Finn again outpacing teammate David Coulthard.
Allan McNish wrapped up Toyota's three-day test at the Italian track, the Scot being fourth quickest with the Michelin-shod TF102.
"We continued some of our mechanical work from yesterday, as well as carrying out a small tyre test for Michelin," said McNish. "There have been some considerable improvements for feeling and consistency. We have learned a lot for direct benefit and also some items for longer term."
Toyota's test driver Stephane Sarrazin replaced Finn Mika Salo at the wheel of the second Toyota. The Frenchman was pleased with his day's work despite setting the slowest time of the session.
"I took over from Mika today, and it was a good day all round," claimed Sarrazin. "Many things were tested and we managed to finish our programme. We collected a lot of information for the next race with many laps achieved. It was good to be here in Mugello, which is a good technical track for both the car and the driver."
Ferrari and World Champion Michael Schumacher will be in action at Mugello on Friday.
