Williams Reserve Judgement on Rule Changes

The Williams team have decided to reserve their judgement regarding the new measures proposed by Formula One's ruling body until the proposals are clarified tomorrow at a meeting of the Technical Working Group.

The Williams team have decided to reserve their judgement regarding the new measures proposed by Formula One's ruling body until the proposals are clarified tomorrow at a meeting of the Technical Working Group.

The FIA on Wednesday unveiled a package of radical technical measures aimed at cutting costs and make racing more exciting as recession bites.

The smaller teams like Jordan or Minardi have welcomed the initiative, while Renault, Toyota and now Williams, although acknowledging that something needs to be done to ensure the future of the sport, are still waiting for clarification at tomorrow's meeting.

"Following yesterday's meeting between the FIA and team principals, the BMW WilliamsF1 Team is currently assessing the proposals presented," said Williams in a statement. "The majority of the proposals will be further clarified by a Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting tomorrow. It is therefore not possible to offer a full response until this meeting has taken place.

"In the interim, the BMW WilliamsF1 Team acknowledges the need in principle for substantive measures to ensure the continued viability of Formula One. The BMW WilliamsF1 Team awaits the outcome of the forthcoming TWG meeting and the clarification that this will provide."

All Formula One team bosses have until tomorrow evening to veto the radical proposals.
