Disappointed Trulli Laments Lost Opportunity

Italian Jarno Trulli was a disappointed man after missing out on what looked set to be a point-scoring finish at today's Belgian Grand Prix.

The Renault driver, starting from seventh position, managed to climb up to fifth place after Williams driver Ralf Schumacher spun while running in front of him. Trulli was able to keep the German at bay during the second part of the race, but on lap 36, the Italian driver's engine let go.

"Once again, I got a very good start, but then accidentally hit the neutral button as I was going into the first corner," explained Trulli. "I caught the slide, but lost the positions I had gained at the start.

"After my last stop, I managed to keep Ralf behind - I think it would have been difficult for him to overtake, as I was quicker on the exit of the slow-speed corners.

"Obviously, it's extremely disappointing, and even more so because the team worked very well all weekend. Certainly well enough to have earned a few points."

Trulli's teammate Jenson Button completed a disappointing weekend for the Renault team, the Briton also retiring with an engine failure.
