Button Unhappy Despite Strong Start

Briton Jenson Button was unhappy with his practice session despite setting a promising sixth quickest time with his Renault.

Button, who is to leave the French squad at the end of the year to drive for the British American Racing team, finished the day only behind the McLarens, the Ferraris and the Williams of German Ralf Schumacher.

Despite his quick pace, the Brit claimed there was still work to do on his Renault before tomorrow's qualifying.

"To be honest, we didn't have a great day," admitted Button. "We haven't found the right set-up and the car is just very low on grip all round, both at the front and the rear. The rear end is moving around a lot - it feels like the same problem we had in Hungary, but the circuit here is much less bumpy.

"I feel uncomfortable with the car at the moment, but we still have time to find the right balance."

Italian teammate Jarno Trulli, on the other hand, was happy with his day's work and claimed he was confident of a strong qualifying after posting the 12th quickest time of today's session.

"I had a very good first day, concentrating mainly on race set-up. The car is working very well, even though we still have some work to do to improve the balance," he said. "I'm confident there is more performance left to find in the package."
