Schumacher Aims to Wrap Up Title in Germany

Championship leader Michael Schumacher has revealed that he would like to clinch his fifth world title at the German Grand Prix at the end of July.

The Ferrari driver, leading the Championship by a massive 54 points over teammate Rubens Barrichello, will have his first chance of wrapping up the title at next week's French Grand Prix at the Magny-Cours circuit, provided he can increase his lead by six points over Barrichello, five over Juan Pablo Montoya and four over Williams teammate Ralf Schumacher.

However, four-time champion Schumacher claimed it will be hard for everything to come together in France and is hoping he can celebrate his fifth title at his home Grand Prix at the Hockenheim circuit on July 28th.

"For this to happen, all the other drivers in the running would have to retire or be very unlucky," said the German driver of clinching the title in France. "And I don't think they'll do that for me.

"Anyway, it would be much nicer to win the title at the next race in Hockenheim, even though I must try and win the title as quickly as possible. The chances seem good, I know, but I also know that anything can still happen, so I don't want to start speculating too much."

Schumacher has scored seven wins in ten races so far this year, increasing his number of victories in Formula One to a record 60. However, the German says he is still enjoying every win.

"On the contrary, I still enjoy them a lot," he admitted. "Especially after races like this which are really hard and difficult, there is a special sense of euphoria which I don't want to give up."
