Ferrari to Use New Aero Package During Practice

The Ferrari team will introduce a new aerodynamic package on their F2002 car at this weekend's European Grand Prix, but it will only be used during the practice sessions on Friday and Saturday.

The World Champions, winners of six out of eight races so far in 2002 thanks to German Michael Schumacher, will take a new engine cover to the Nurburgring circuit this weekend, also introducing aerodynamics changes around the rear wheels.

Ferrari, however, have ruled out using the new package in the race, as the team don't expect to be able to carry out the usual full race distance reliability testing for any new developments.

Technical director Ross Brawn also revealed that the Championship leaders will have a new aerodynamic package for their home Grand Prix in September.

"We have been using our old wind tunnel for conceptual work and the fruits of these tests are starting to come through onto the car since the end of May," said Brawn. "We have more on the way including a new special high-speed aero package for Monza."
