Sauber Join Ferrari at Mugello - Day Three

Sauber joined Ferrari today at Mugello, for the final day of testing at the Tuscan track.

Nick Heidfeld and Felipe Massa were both driving for the Swiss team, alongside World Champion Michael Schumacher, who continued with the development of the F2002. Massa had two spins, which did not cause any damage to the car.

Schumacher concentrated mainly on making set up changes to the car. The German began driving at 9:55, ending his work at 17:15. He covered a total of 50 laps with a best time of 1:22.551 - over two seconds faster than Heidfeld, who set the second fastest time of the day.

"We have continued with development on the F2002, concentrating on set-up, so as to be ready as soon as possible with the new car. Certainly the feeling I got from it today was positive," declared Schumacher at the end of the test. "It's the first time we have been able to work continuously with the F2002 at this circuit. In the afternoon, conditions were a bit difficult because of the wind. All in all, I am happy with the day's work."

Having finished testing at Mugello, the Scuderia will be back in action on Monday at Imola, with Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello and Luca Badoer.

Heidfeld, on the other hand, will continue the aerodynamic assessment program tomorrow as well as testing tyres for Bridgestone. To help prepare him for Melbourne, Massa will carry out another race distance simulation.
