Prost's Fate to be Known on Thursday

The Prost team will find out their fate on Thursday after setting the day as an ultimate and un-movable deadline for their survival.

The Prost team will find out their fate on Thursday after setting the day as an ultimate and un-movable deadline for their survival.

Team boss Alain Prost has seen recent meetings drag on for weeks as the fate of the team, which went into receivership with debts of $28 million in November, is discussed with lawyers and receivers.

"We will definitely know at 4pm on Thursday," said team spokesperson Virginie Papin on Tuesday. "At the moment we know, internally speaking, about proposals - and there is more than one."

And Prost, a notorious nail-biter, is feeling the pressure, leaving Papin to comment: "I should check the other hand, because one is missing already. It is quite tiring and stressful for him, but he is as motivated as before and all the team are still positive. But we have no idea how things are going. We still wait guarantees."

Papin revealed that a meeting on Monday should have secured the team's future, but said certain requirements had not been met by the investors bidding for the takeover.

"Things could have been concluded if the proposals had been complete," said Papin. "But they missed some financial and personnel indication."

Prost is thought to be on the verge of securing a deal with a group of so-far un-named Italian investors, but Renault boss Flavio Briatore has also been linked with the team.
