FIA Cancels Meeting of F1 Commission

Formula One's governing body plans to put more cost-cutting proposals to teams next month to avoid a crisis further down the road, but the FIA had cancelled a meeting planned of the Formula One Commission, that was scheduled for this month.

An FIA spokesman said president Max Mosley cancelled a session of the F1 Commission in Monaco this week and would instead meet team bosses on January 28th, in order to discuss possible cost-cutting measures that are now being planned.

"More cost-cutting proposals will be presented to the teams," the spokesman said today. "One of the reasons for not having the FIA commission meeting in Monaco was because they were still being drawn up."

Teams have been discussing ways of saving money all year, and Mosley said in September that he would commission an in-depth study of Formula One aimed at making the sport significantly cheaper.

This year, Ford quit while small, privately-run teams such as Jordan and Minardi have struggled to survive.
