Ralf Supports No Running on Saturday

German driver Ralf Schumacher believes tomorrow's practice and qualifying sessions should be cancelled due to the expected poor weather conditions.

Race organisers and Formula One officials were due to meet later to decide whether to postpone Saturday's qualifying at Suzuka to Sunday morning after two rain-soaked practice runs.

The penultimate race of 2004 could be disrupted by typhoon "Ma-on" which is forecast to hit central Japan this weekend. The storm system is carrying winds of up to 180kph near its centre.

"Not much to say due to the amount of water on the track and the large amount of aquaplaning we had today," said Schumacher, 12th quickest today. "I would hope we could get some better work in tomorrow, but unfortunately it doesn't look this way at the moment.

"It would be more sensible not to run at all tomorrow."

Schumacher's Colombian teammate Juan Pablo Montoya, 13th fastest today, said he was expecting not to run at all tomorrow.

"The track was massively wet at first but it wasn't too bad after a few cars had been running," said Montoya.

"Still, if the rain keeps increasing as it looks like it will, I'll be surprised if we will be running tomorrow. With the prospect of a dry race it will be interesting, very interesting."
