Montoya Black Flagged

Williams's North American nightmare continued today when Juan Pablo Montoya was given the black flag 15 laps before the end of the US Grand Prix.

The FIA did not yet provide the reason for the black flag, however reports suggested Montoya's car did not pass scrutineering prior to the race. Alternative reports at Indianapolis state he switched to the spare car too late under the regulations.

The Colombian abandoned his racing car on the grid when the formation lap was underway, and switched immediately to the spare car. He then joined the grid as the race began from the pitlane.

Montoya's disqualification at Indianapolis comes after both Williams cars were disqualified last week from the Canadian Grand Prix, when the air ducts on the front brakes were found to be outside the allowed dimensions.

And, in today's race, Montoya's teammate Ralf Schumacher was taken to hospital after a suspected rear suspension failure lead him to crash heavily on the final corner of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Williams are currently fourth in the Constructors' Championship
