Webber Aiming for Points Finish

Australian Mark Webber says his Jaguar team will fight for points at tomorrow's United States Grand Prix, the ninth round of the 2004 season.

Webber, whose team dropped to ninth place in the Constructors' Championship after last weekend's Canadian Grand Prix, will be looking to add points to his poor tally after qualifying in 10th place in today's qualifying at Indianapolis.

"I am really pleased with my qualifying lap," admitted Webber. "It felt good out there and the car is in good shape. You have to be careful to control your aggression here as pushing too hard only slows you down.

"The track temperature was also increasing this afternoon and with that the grip was decreasing. The balance in particular is good on the long runs and I am in looking forward to the race. We believe we have a good strategy in place and we are in a points fighting position."

The Australian outqualified his Jaguar teammate Christian Klien, who wound up 13th.

"I'm really happy about my qualifying lap. The weekend so far has been really good, at least with the performance, said Klien. "I tried to push it a little bit too hard in the middle sector and lost a little bit of time there, but I think we have good balance for the car, so I'm looking forward to it.

"We hope for the best. I think we are on a good strategy for the race. The car looks good on the long run, so it should be OK."
