Raikkonen to Race with Coulthard's Car

McLaren's title contender Kimi Raikkonen will use team mate David Coulthard's car in Sunday's decisive Japanese Grand Prix after crashing in free practice on Saturday.

The 23-year-old Finn, who will be Formula One's youngest champion if he wins and Ferrari's Michael Schumacher fails to score in the season's final race, bounced across gravel and grass before hitting the tyre wall at turn two.

Raikkonen clambered out of the car, which suffered front suspension damage, and turned bystander for the remainder of the first session and part of the second.

With the spare unavailable in free practice under this year's regulations, the Finn took over Coulthard's car once the settings had been changed. He completed seven laps in a move that sidelined the Scot.

The team said Raikkonen would use Coulthard's car for the rest of the weekend while his team mate would drive the spare for the first time in final qualifying.

The Finn is Schumacher's sole title rival, with 83 points to the German's 92.
