Wife Hails Montoya after 'Deserved' Win

Connie Montoya hailed the performance of husband Juan Pablo following the BMW-Williams driver's victory at the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday - and promised they will be celebrating with a huge party.

Montoya's only previous victory came at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in 2001, just days after the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States, where the pair lived before moving to Europe.

She admitted celebrations at Monza had been dampened by the incidents in New York, but promised that the Monaco victory, which ended Williams' 20-year jinx in the principality and also earned the team their first win since Malaysia last year, will result in a extravagant celebrations.

"Juan won't cry, never, never, never, never," Connie said when asked if Montoya had shed a tear on the podium. "Monaco is a very important race and Williams haven't won since 1983 I believe and they did a perfect race.

"He deserved this a long time ago and the team deserved it and we are going to celebrate. For him Monza was very special but it was September 11 and Monaco is Monaco. He could win championships, hopefully he will, but Monaco is Monaco.

"He did an amazing job and the pit-stops were perfect. It will be a very good party tonight."
