Alonso Happy to Regain Third Place in Standings

Spanish driver Fernando Alonso was pleased after scoring four points at today's Monaco Grand Prix, which allowed the Renault driver to move into third place in the drivers' standings.

"I think it was a quite good end to a difficult weekend for me, since I hadn't quite managed to get the maximum out of the car in practice and qualifying," said Alonso after the race.

"My fifth place is certainly a good result and I'm glad to have scored some points for the team and to be now third in the Drivers' Championship."

Alonso, who has finished in the points in six of seven races so far this season, moved ahead of Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello in the standings. Alonso is currently on 29 points, 19 behind Championship leader Kimi Raikkonen and 15 behind Michael Schumacher.

Alonso's teammate Jarno Trulli, on the other hand, was not happy with his result. The Italian, who had started the race from fourth position, lost out to his teammate in the pitstops and went on to finish in sixth place.

"A disappointing result for me, as I had been very competitive all weekend," admitted Trulli. "I pushed hard throughout the race but I got stuck in traffic and lost quite a lot of time behind the backmarkers and one position in my second pit stop.

"It's certainly not what I had expected from this race and the three points I got are a very small consolation."
