Aston Martin and Arm have signed a multi-year partnership that will not only focus on technology but also on inclusion within motorsport.

Arm’s AI expertise will see the two organisations working together to design and develop new systems that can deliver on-track performances.

The announcement of the partnership highlighted specific work to improve pit stop timings, with the development of “intelligent wheel guns, automated jacks” and a “release light system”, while also working together to optimise Aston Martin’s new wind tunnel model.

Arm branding will be visible on the Aston Martin car from 2025 onwards, as well as the pit gantry and the F1 Academy car and race suit.

“This partnership with Arm marks an exciting chapter in Aston Martin Aramco’s journey,” said Aston Martin CEO Andy Cowell.

“Arm’s expertise in compute and AI technology will play a significant role in enhancing performance and driving forward engineering innovation inside the team, to help deliver performance on the track.”

In addition to technical collaboration, the partnership is committed to increasing female participation in motorsport.

Jessica Hawkins, head of F1 Academy at Aston Martin, has been announced as an official ambassador for Arm, with the partnership including initiatives for women in motorsport and addressing the gender gap in technical roles.

“This partnership brings an opportunity to push the boundaries of what we can achieve off track too with a clear focus to champion women in STEM, aligning with our own goals to create an inclusive and diverse culture and attract the very best talent as part of our Make a Mark strategy,” added Cowell.

Arm innovation is already present in devices that span the globe, such as smartphones, supercomputers and race cars.

For Ami Badani, the company’s chief marketing officer, performance and inclusion are both at key components of the deal with Aston Martin.

“Arm has been at the heart of innovation for over three decades, driven by our commitment to finding unique opportunities that allow us to inspire and empower the next generation of engineers and racers,” she said.

“We are excited to partner with Aston Martin Aramco to foster new pathways for talent in STEM and women in motorsport, while also advancing performance on the track and in the car through leading edge AI technologies from Arm.”
