Alonso to Drive an F1 Car in Moscow

Fernando Alonso, the youngest Grand Prix winner following his success in Hungary on Sunday, is to drive the first Formula One car through the streets of Moscow later this year.

Alonso will become the first driver to run on Russian soil on October 18th when he takes to the streets of the capital along with Renault teammate Jarno Trulli.

Moscow is attempting to secure a place on the calendar in Formula One and the Renault drivers will do demonstration runs in the city and give fans the chance to see the sport first hand.

Alonso, who ran through the streets of Madrid in May, said: "When I ran my car in Madrid, we had over 100,000 spectators turn up. That was an unforgettable day.

"I think we can expect the same thing in Moscow. It will be fun meeting the Russian fans and showing them for the first time what an F1 car can really do!"

Trulli added: "Compared to a Grand Prix, this kind of event allows the fans to really get up close and experience what F1 is all about. It's going to be a special day for the spectators."

The trip to Russia will come a week after the season-ending Japanese Grand Prix.
