Button not too excited despite first point

Jenson Button says he is not getting too carried away with his and Honda Racing's first points of the year at the French Grand Prix

The Briton made the most of an updated RA107 to deliver the team's strongest race of the season, but he still believes more work is needed to improve its qualifying pace.

"It is a good result but I am not getting too excited about it," Button said in an interview with ITV. "It is still one point. We want to be at the front, so there is a long way to go.

"The race pace was pretty good, we just need to sort qualifying out. We got the maximum out of the car here."

Button was happy, however, that he had got into the points through outright performance rather than good luck.

"We got the point through speed and not people falling off," he said. "It is a good place to build on. We are not at the front yet, and we have a long way to go, but it gives the boys something to smile about.

"We were as quick as the Renaults and very close to the BMW in terms of race pace. So if we can sort out qualifying it will be great."
