Prost confident of team's potential

Alain Prost may be disappointed with his team's performances so far this year, but he knows the potential is there

Prost Grand Prix have picked up just one point , Olivier Panis' sixth place in Brazil , from the first three races.

'There are two ways of looking at things,' he said. 'One is the results and from that it is not very good because one point is not enough.

'But the potential of the car is good and the potential of the team is looking quite good. We are improving all the time, which is very important.

'We have a big development with a new engine for next year. Peugeot have done a huge job since last year. We should get the new engine on the dyno next month, which is quite early, and that should be a big step on the engine side.'

The four-time champion said he had been worried Peugeot's return to world championship rallying would affect the F1 programme.

'I was worried and I told them so but now its started you have to look on the positive side. Rallying is product, F1 is for image but if it is good for Peugeot in rallying then it is going to be good for the Formula One programme.'
