BAR No Longer Under Investigation

"The FIA regards the San Marino Grand Prix incident as closed," the FIA said in a statement on Wednesday.

"BAR Honda are no longer under investigation and the FIA wish them every success in the remaining 13 rounds of the FIA Formula One World Championship."

The world body had said earlier this month that it was investigating claims that BAR had brought the sport into disrepute with comments made by management following the team's suspension.

With BAR already under the threat of a six-month ban, suspended for a year, referral to the FIA's world motorsport council could have had serious implications.

BAR, with British driver Jenson Button and Japan's Takuma Sato, moved swiftly to stave off further action by accepting they had misinterpreted the regulations and accepting punishment.

The team were suspended for two races after Button's car, which finished third at Imola, was found to be underweight when fully drained of petrol hidden in a collector tank inside the main fuel reservoir.

Button and Sato were stripped of their points, the team's first of the year.

The FIA had originally called for a season-long ban and a fine of one million euros ($1.28 million).
